About This Game
Penn State arrived as the lower seed but quickly announced itself on college football's biggest stage. Drew Allar threaded two precision touchdown passes in the first quarter—to Tyler Warren and Omari Evans—vaulting the Nittany Lions to a 14-0 lead. It appeared another playoff blowout was forming, but Boise State, the Broncos who had thrived as underdogs all postseason, refused to fade. Tyler Crowe powered in a rushing touchdown and Matt Lauter hauled in a receiving score that sliced Penn State's lead to just three points at 17-14 in the third quarter.
For a moment, momentum belonged to Boise State. But Penn State's defense and Allar's resilience proved decisive. When the Broncos threatened to engineer an upset, Allar responded with a third touchdown pass to Warren. The final punctuation came in the fourth quarter when Nicholas Singleton burst through the line for a 58-yard touchdown run, sealing a 31-14 victory and sending Penn State into the College Football Playoff semifinals.
