Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs BYU Cougars — October 17, 2026
24–28
About This Game
Notre Dame and BYU traded blows at LaVell Edwards Stadium, but the first half belonged to the Cougars. Bear Bachmeier accounted for three touchdowns before the break, two on the ground and one on a 15-yard catch from Kyler Kasper, and BYU led 21-10 at halftime.
The Irish fought back after the break. Notre Dame cut the deficit to five entering the fourth quarter, then took a 24-21 lead on Jonaz Walton's 3-yard run. Across 21 drives the Irish piled up 944 total yards, so the game was a back-and-forth affair rather than a defensive stalemate.
The decider came in the final two minutes. Bachmeier threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Walker Lyons with 1:47 left to put BYU back ahead 28-24. CJ Carr moved Notre Dame to the BYU 9 with four seconds remaining, but his last pass fell incomplete in the end zone. The game is available as a Gameprint, custom wall art that visualizes every drive, from Bachmeier's opening run to that final incompletion.
